Big changes in the hiring process
September 17, 2007
By: Randi Bussin-Career Coach, Personal Branding Specialist
One of the biggest changes that will take place in the future is the way in which companies hire their employees. Here are four ways in which hiring practices will change:
- Recruiting young employees will become number one priority, as Gen X is downshifting to spend time with their families and Gen Y is considering entrepreneurship and self-employment as career options.
- Candidates will drive the hiring process. Younger candidates are better at marketing themselves and are clear on what makes an ideal job for them.
- Companies will get better at writing ads. Companies will stop writing vague job descriptions and focus on creating descriptions that state what they are looking for.
- The matching process between the company and employee is going to become personalized. Firms can not afford to make selection mistakes so they will focus on marketing their brand more effectively to prospective candidates and get to know them better via their blogs and other tools.
