On Work/Life Balance

This week, I read an interesting article on work/life balance in Wharton’s Knowledge@Wharton’s readership survey.

The article talks about women executives on Wall Street and their reflections on work/life balance.

I took away three important points from this article:

·        Work/life balance is a PRIVLEDGE that you earn over time. It is very hard to come right into a company and demand work/life balance.

·        Tied to this first point is that work/life balance is earned through continued great performance. By being consistency good at what you do, it gives you leverage to ask for this option.

·        You have to know yourself and what is important to you, otherwise you are just aimless, without goals and a true sense of what matters to you.
